Sources and corrections policy

Every Facts Nero article ends with a numbered list of the sources it was checked against. This page explains how we choose them and what happens when we get something wrong.

Sources we use

  • Primary sources first: space agencies (such as NASA, ESA and ISRO), observatories, mission teams and peer-reviewed research papers.
  • A second, independent source: we look for another reliable source, such as a second agency, a research paper or an established news outlet, to confirm each fact.
  • Single-source claims are attributed: if only one source says something, the article names it (“NASA says…”).
  • Unverifiable claims are dropped: if we cannot check a figure, it does not go in the article, even if it was in our video.
  • Our own calculations are labelled as ours, with the numbers they come from.

Articles written from videos

When an article is written from one of our videos, we check the video's script again. If the video got something wrong, the article gives the correct version and its “About this article” note lists what was corrected or dropped.

Images and credits

Every image carries its credit. We use public-domain images from space agencies and images under open licences such as Creative Commons. We do not use agency logos or branding, and illustrations are labelled as illustrations.

Corrections

If you think something in an article is wrong, please tell us (see contact). We check it against the sources. If the article is wrong, we fix it and say in the article's note what changed. We do not quietly rewrite facts.
